The fascination and excitement of the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad brought many out-of-area railfans lineside and on board to capture on film this exciting electric railroad while they could. 

Over the years, Harvey Laner borrowed and transferred the movies of several West Coast railfans, looking for Pacific Electric, Los Angeles Railway and Los Angeles Transit Lines movies.  He found plenty of those and also found North Shore Line movie scenes imbedded in those collections.  

Many scenes are taken at familiar locations but reflect the camera techniques and angles of the individuals that took them. This program takes that collection of movies along with Harvey’s own North Shore Line movies and places them in geographical order providing a trip from Milwaukee to Chicago with side trips on the Shore Line and to Mundelein.  

It’s a wonderful collection reflecting the admiration the North Shore Line had in the railfan community, even with those residing outside the upper Midwest.

We will also have a short newscast preceding the regular program.
