CERA's Second Friday Zoom Program: Japan's Private Electric Railways

Our October 13 Zoom presentation is entitled "Japan's Private Electric Railways."

The presenter is Mike Joynt, a longtime CERA member who has traveled extensively by rail throughout Japan over the past 22 years.  Mike is the US Coordinator for the Japanese Railway Society and co-editor of its quarterly magazine The Bullet-In.

In 2012 Mike presented an in-person CERA -program covering Japan's tram systems, and he recently offered to do this Zoom program on Japan's colorful and interesting private (non-JR) electric railways. The program will cover both large urban networks and interurban systems serving medium and smaller cities and rural areas.  The photos mainly date from the early 2000s to as recently as May 2023, but a few from the 1970s have been included because of their historical interest.
