Lake Room Conference Center
525 S. State Street, Chicago, IL
(Located between Congress Parkway and Harrison St.)
The Conference Center is located on the second floor. After entering the lobby, go through the glass doors on your left for stair and elevator access to the area. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Noted TM authority Tom Jervan will conduct us on a tour of two TMER&T divisions. The Milwaukee Northern, running up to Port Washington and Sheboygan, was acquired by TM in 1928 and had a look that made it distinctive from the other TM divisions. The Milwaukee-Racine-Kenosha (MRK) line competed directly with the North Shore Line. This line was rebuilt into a high-speed interurban with improvements being made into the early 1930s. Illustrated with many excellent photos and maps, this program will detail the development and operations on these lines until their final abandonment in the late 1940s.
Join us for what will truly be a memorable evening.
The Return of the CERA Newscast
It has been noted that new streetcar and light rail projects seem to be appearing faster than when they were being abandoned in the ‘50s. With all the new developments in electric rail transit, CERA encourages members to share photos of their recent trips with others at our monthly programs, which was once a regular and popular feature.
Since most photography these days is mostly digital, simply send up to 10 of your best photos as JPEG attachment s along with a brief description to our e-mail address: ceraoffice@gmail.com
These will be put into Power Point with proper descriptions for viewing at the next meeting. We encourage you to attend in person and present your contribution. We recommend each of you to limit your presentation to around 5 minutes so all presenters can be accommodated.
Slides can be mailed for scanning to our office:
CERA, P.O. Box 503, Chicago, IL 60690
Slides will be immediately returned to the contributor (one-day turnaround).
We hope you’ll be able to help us once again make this an important feature of our monthly programs.
