Between 1953 and 1963 (with a four year beak for naval duty), Tom Jervan was employed by the North Shore Line at its main Highwood office. Having the foresight to bring his camera along with him to work, Tom recorded events at Highwood over the years. Highwood served as the main shop facility and you’ll see a wide variety of equipment that was brought in for repair or overhaul. Tom will show you the various stages a North Shore Line car went through on its way to becoming a Silverliner. You’ll also become acquainted with a few of the personalities who made the North Shore the unique interurban that it was.
Join us for a trip 60 years back in time for views of the North Shore Line’s Highwood shops, offices, and yards as they were then.
There will also be a newscast at the beginning of the program.
