In conjunction with the imminent publication of Bulletin 147 Riding the Bell, Lehigh Valley Transit’s Liberty Bell Route, CERA will present a program on this fascinating interurban. LVT operated its Liberty Bell Route between Philadelphia and Allentown and also provided extensive streetcar service in Allentown and Bethlehem in addition to service between Allentown and Easton (the Easton Limited).
Our program will focus on the Liberty Bell Route in two parts. The first will be a slide presentation (PowerPoint) showing LVT’s equipment and principal stations along the route. The second half of the program will be an hour-long DVD featuring rare color footage from the late 1930s and early 1940s. The quality of the images in this DVD is outstanding.
There will also be a newscast at the beginning of the program.
